Company Profile
Accuro Immunology is a biomedical
discovery company based at Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, Sweden. Based
on its proprietary TEIPP1 technology, Accuro develops active
immunotherapies directed at escape variants of several cancers.
The company has established preclinical proof-of-concept and is currently
validating lead candidates for its clinical program. The company’s pipeline
includes cell-based as well as molecular cancer vaccines based on the TEIPP
technology.
Accuro Immunology is a privately owned company. Investors include Investor
Growth Capital, Karolinska Investment Fund, Swedish Industrial Development
Fund.
TEIPP Technology
Accuro’s development is based on the innovation of TEIPP immunotherapy. TEIPP
is a T-cell-based immunotherapy, discovered at Karolinska Institutet, with
important advantages to other immunotherapies under development.
Targets for TEIPP are tumors with down-regulated antigen processing
capabilities, which normally are escaping T-cell based immunotherapies. The
TEIPP technology provides the possibility to generate TEIPP-specific T-cells
which has been demonstrated to selectively identify and kill such tumor
cells. Vaccination based on TEIPP has also been demonstrated to protect
against tumor outgrowth in animal models.
To date, the technology has been tested in murine models for six different
tumors, such as lymphomas, cervical carcinoma model, colorectal carcinoma,
fibrosarcoma and melanoma. The experimental evidence indicates the potential
to develop TEIPP immunotherapy for all tumors tested. The company has also generated
human proof-of-concept data in vitro.
The uniqueness of TEIPP comes from the fact that other T-cell-based
immunotherapies under development are suffering from problems with immune
escape/evasion.
